(More customer reviews)After reading the bad reviews this doll received I felt I had to add my own. Our 4 1/2 year old loves this doll. Yes you do have to wait until McKayla is done talking or moving to interact with her but this just re-enforces taking turns when speaking. She does have a specific design for play but there are lots of variations to play whether it be guessing animal sounds, silly faces, tracking her toys, spoon or bottle. People have complained about having to yell at the doll in order for it to hear them. We have found that if you talk clearly and try to avoid other noises in the room it works just fine. Overall this doll is very fun and interactive but you have to decide if it fits with your child. They have to be old enough to understand how she works and not to get frustrated while trying to figure her out. The only reason for the 4 stars is a battery issue. After 1 day McKayla started saying her batteries were getting tired and she needed to rest. Changed them out with fresh ones and put the old one in other toys and the worked just fine. Perhaps she didn't need new batteries but just needed to sleep. I have emailed the company to hopefully get an answer to this.

For a realistic take on what mommy does all day, introduce your little girl to McKayla. This interactive doll uses technology to let "mommy" learn what it's like to feed, play with, talk to, change, and, of course, love a baby all day long. Voice recognition technology allows McKayla to learn your voice, turn toward you when you talk, and engage in two-way communication. Her speech improves gradually as you spend time with her. The more time you spend teaching her words, the faster she picks it up and the better her language becomes. Sensory technology allows McKayla to see and track objects, like her teddy bear, bottle, and feeding spoon. If mommy moves these things side to side in front of McKayla, the doll's head will follow the movements. Articulated animatronics provide her lifelike movement and expressions.
To make the experience even more realistic, McKayla will let you know what she would like. When she wants food, she'll say "Hun-gee, Ma-ma!" which is your cue to give her either her bottle or feed her some peas. When she's feeling cuddly, she'll say "I love to be held big hug, please!" Once mommy holds her, she recognizes the voice and stops asking. All in all, Amazing McKayla has seven distinct cries, and like all new moms, your little girl will have to discern between her sick cry vs. her tired cry vs. her hungry cry and so on. But one of the cries is for entertainment, and McKayla has four interactive games, such as Peek-a-Boo, that she enjoys playing. After a long day of learning new things, you can gently rock the doll to sleep. If she's really exhausted, she might even snore!
Amazing McKayla is 14" tall and requires four AA batteries, not included. She comes dressed in a lavender smock with a matching bracelet on her wrist and bow in her blond hair. Her accessories include a bottle, a teddy bear, a jar of peas, and a feeding spoon.
