Yo Gabba Gabba DJ Lance Dance Hat Review

Yo Gabba Gabba DJ Lance Dance Hat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This set is worth it for the photos you'll take of them wearing it alone. My daughter got this for her 3rd birthday, and both she and her 18 mos sister like wearing the hat/glasses from time to time. Funny enough, both the hat band and the glasses can fit my little 18 mos old to even my adult sized head without being too uncomfortable. The hat seems to respond well to movement, too. The playability is limited, though, as it only has 3 activities, one DJ Lance Dance (The Eagle has landed), a snippet of " It's Time to Dance!," and "The Freeze Game." At least the voice from the hat is actually DJ Lance's voice, so the kids can identify. Because of the limited playability, the toy has lost its interest in the last 2 months. But occasionally my kids will throw it on and do goofy dances (ANY dance looks goofy in this getup) that are perfect "blackmail" pics when my kids turn into sullen, attitude prone teens. For that reason alone, it's priceless.

Get ready to dance with DJ Lance! There are 3 ways to play! In Mode 1, the more you dance, the more the music plays. In Mode 2, DJ Lance teaches you how to do his dances. In Mode 3, the "Freeze" game, DJ Lance tells you to run, hop or walk. Don't move until he tells you to, or you'll lose! The magic dance hat comes with black plastic glasses.

**Update,I stand corrected, the doll also has a striped sweater that goes over her blue top..whoohoo!**
I purchased this doll for my daughter who had to have it. She opened her present but the excitement quickly died down when she realized all the doll said was three phrases and she couldn't put barbie clothes on her. I would not purchase this doll again, she is an awkward size and I am unimpressed with the doll's supposed "change" of clothing. Please see detailed video review.

Star Wars Darth Sidious 84087 Review

Star Wars Darth Sidious 84087
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 4-year-old loves this figure. It's pretty basic - as the previous reviewer points out, it lacks accessories of any kind (my son gives Darth Sidious Vader's lightsaber at need). The robes are not quite black but are kind of bluish and black and not evenly colored and I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.
For a figure who comes with nothing and is basically un-poseable (he doesn't stand well either) he brings a great deal of joy to my son and is one of his most played with figures. He's also pretty durable since there is nothing to break off.

Elenco Electronics Snap Circuits Deluxe Snap Rover Review

Elenco Electronics Snap Circuits Deluxe Snap Rover
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Where to begin with this thing?
My kid (8 y.o. girl) who loves "science stuff" has started getting into Snap Circuits, specifically the SC-300 kit. She expressed an interest in the standard RC Rover, but I thought the voice box and disc shooter were worthwhile upgrades for the fun factor.
One nitpick to start off:
The picture posted for this item does not really represent what it looks like. Yes, it has the Dome contraption and the yellow tanklike bottom, but the components on the back are not representative of what comes in the box. For example the big yellow speaker is not present and the green box is also not there. The red RF receiver box is nowhere near as large. What you get is functionally the same with a slightly different mix of components and the number of "experiments" went from 40 to 63, with two bonus experiments if you have an SC-300 kit or higher.
The kid showed a passing interest in it when it was with all the other Christmas loot, but the first experiment we did was the RC disc shooter. Thus followed an hour of playtime of having the vehicle hunt down and fire harmless foam discs at the cat (the cat enjoyed chasing down the discs as fast as the thing could be reloaded, too). Followed by hunting the wife, and then I fell victim to the rover's discs of death.
This thing is built quite sturdy and makes lots of gear noise when it runs. It has a headlight and flashing red "eyes". It plays beeping musical tunes and it can record and playback voices.
What to nitpick about it? Just a few things:
1. The SC-300 and other SnapCircuit kits come in a box to organize and store all the stuff. This comes in a box, but the box isn't suited for storage.
2. There is no "battery saver" for either the remote or the vehicle. It would be nice if the remote at least shut off after not being used for a while.
3. The remote uses a telescoping metal antenna, so one has to be careful not to break it.
4. One of the items - a 2-snap "wire" segment had a broken snap that won't stay attached. There is a card included where the customer can call the vendor about missing/broken parts and I plan to give them a call about it after the holidays.
In the end, this is a great toy (more toy-ish than the kits at least) and very entertaining and fun. Highly recommended if you have a kid who loves to tinker and build stuff.

Star Wars Boba Fett Electronic Helmet Review

Star Wars Boba Fett Electronic Helmet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a huge fan of Boba Fett. I was glad to finally see a well done helmet at a good price. The first thing you will notice is this is not movie accurate. The visor is enlarged so that you can see out of it, I guess. Overall the helmet seems pretty big, I can't imagine how funny this would look on a child. The helmet comes split in half and snaps together. I'm not sure if mine is missing a piece but one the bottom edges does not snap, looks like something is missing there. There are two small red lights on the antenna top and bottom. The speaker is on the left, and there are two control buttons on the antenna side. Audio seems plenty loud for me, but I didn't buy it for that feature. Batteries are included. The paint job is well done. Inside the mask there is an adjustable head strap and "goggles" that fit around your nose and eyes. The helmet is vented on the back, side and cheek lines. I'm very happy with this helmet since I'm a budget collector.

The Boba Fett Helmet features button-activated blaster sounds and rocket pack sounds, recites phrases such as â??Surrender... or face disintegration,â? and light-up antenna. Conceived during the Clone Wars in the mysterious cloning facility on Kamino, Boba inherited from his â??fatherâ?, the legendary Jango Fett, his blaster-deflecting, lightsaber-resistant Mandalorian armor and distinctive helmet with forbidding T-shaped visor and HUD function. Boba Fett was among the bounty hunters summoned by Darth Vader for the task of tracking the Millennium Falcon. In the course of Jabbaâ?TMs failed attempt to feed Solo and Luke Skywalker to the Sarlacc, Fett was sabotaged by his malfunctioning jet pack and was sent careening into the Pit of Carcoon, and was saved from digestion only by virtue of his battered armor.

This journal has similar problems to the previous versions, apparently. That is, it has trouble recognizing the voice password, even on the "low" setting. My current theory is that if you choose a password that has some "hard" consonant sounds and long vowels, for example, "cheese", it works a little better than a password with soft consonants and short vowels, like "love".

Ms. Botz appeared on one episode in which Marge and Homer were desperate for a babysitter and got Ms. Botz from the agency. Unbeknownst to the Simpsons and the agency, Botz is a murderer on the lam from the cops.
She has her own string of quips such as "Come, children, let's watch "The Happy Elves."
Ms. Botz has her long sloped nose, poor posture and sagging boobs - all in hilarious detail. Accessories are a roll of duct tape, rope, a video tape of "The Happy Elves," and a suitcase.

Snap Circuits PRO SC-500 Review

Snap Circuits PRO SC-500
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just played with this (Snap Circuits Junior) for the first time and came looking to buy one for my kids.
In response to the person who said the manuals have errors, see the web site http://www.snapcircuits.net/ (and also http://www.elenco.com/ as mentioned below.) In particular there is a page that gives corrections to all the manuals: http://www.snapcircuits.net/updates.doc .
Another concern I had is which kit to buy: Junior, Pro, etc.? On the snapcircuits web site they have a price list for replacement parts and upgrade kits. For the difference in price between the kits you can upgrade from one to the next so this takes some of the worry about of the purchase (for me at least). http://www.snapcircuits.net/scparts.pdf

Hasbro Star Wars Darth Vader Voice Changer Review

Hasbro Star Wars Darth Vader Voice Changer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is not a voice changer, this is something that kind of adds on to your voice, droning in the background.
I put it on, and of course, like all the "1"s said, the head peace busted right off (that's what I get for being born with a big head) --- but it's not as bad as they say, you can put it back on if you know how to work it right...
But lets get real, this thing does not make you sound like Darth unless you have your ear right up to the little speaker that will sit on your chest.
It's really kind of weird that they put the speaker at the base of the control panel... if you were really short, and the person wearing it were really tall, maybe then it would make sense...
Anyway, long story short, but the TRANSFORMERS voice changing helmet... the Darth Vader one is kind of lame.

I got this for my bff boy turning 5 years old. He told me that Bumblebee was his favorite Transformer. Well, I definitely think that it was the hit of the party. All the kids wanted to play with it. The noise that the cannon makes when it transforms and when it shoots is very cool. Kids can figure out how to use it without much direction. My three year old knew exactly what to do with it, and he does not even know who the Tranformers are yet really.

Iron Man Deluxe Helmet Review

Iron Man Deluxe Helmet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 3 year old has coveted the Iron Man helmet ever since he first spied it in a certain ubiquitous discount store months ago. He was told he could get it when and only when he performed a big-boy duty involving the potty.
Yesterday the event occurred.
This has been my life since:
LAST NIGHT (an hour after bedtime):
HIM: I don't wanna go to bed, I want to wear my Iron Man helmet!!!
ME: You can play with it all day tomorrow.
HIM: I leave it right here on the couch. DON'T TAKE IT! Don't put it away!!
ME: Ok, I promise.
(10 minutes later from his bed)
HIM: (yelling out) Don't put Iron Man helmet away!!
ME: I won't.
6:22am THIS MORNING:
HIM: Uh, Mommy, I wait until the sun is awake... can I wear my Iron Man helmet now?
Everyone in the house has been instructed to try it on, work all the buttons, and talk about it over and over and over and over and over... (you get the idea).
He is beyond thrilled with it and (so far) hardly ever wants to take it off. He can see well enough out of it to be able to walk around without crashing (much).
From my point of view:
I don't see some of the fit problems that others mention.
I mean, it is a toy, after all, you don't expect it to fit perfectly. And it does have adjustments holes in many locations so it seems the size possibilities are very large -- not just standard "small medium or large" adjustment spots.
He is a small 3-year-old and we can make it fit him or his 14 year old brother (who is also a tad small for his age). And, if I wanted to go all out in adjustments, I feel pretty sure I could make it fit me. That is a pretty big fit range, I think.
It does come apart a bit too easily (if dropped too hard), and then has to be put back together. But you could probably solve the problem by duct-taping it from the inside if the clips get broken or weak. But it is ok if not abused.
If there is educational value to this toy, I don't know where it is. But it is certainly good for creative role play. He can BE Iron Man (and now wants the whole suit ... and the similar Star Wars Stormtropper helmet).
